STATEMENT OF FAITH

What do we believe at First Baptist Church?

Trinity: We believe in one eternal, true and living God, who exists in three Persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, authoritative and infallible Word of God and it is our sole rule of faith and practice.  It is the standard by which all human conduct and creeds shall be measured.

Humanity: Humankind is created, male and female, in the image of God.  Humanity, because of sin, is separated from God.  We are incapable of uniting ourselves with God on our own and are given the choice between sin and salvation.

Salvation: Human redemption can only be found in the forgiveness of sin and justification that comes through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died for sinners and rose again from the Dead.  Only by repentance from sin and through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord can acceptance by God be attained.

The Church: The Body of Christ is comprised of those who strive to do the will of God as revealed in Scripture.  The Church reveals itself wherever Christians gather together in worship, observe the ordinances and evangelize.

The Ordinances: We observe the Ordinances of Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as commanded by Christ.  These are an outward expression of our faith and obedience to Christ.
